About

Sarah is a classically trained orchestral and freelance harpist. She first discovered her passion for playing when she began music lessons on piano at age five, eventually starting on the harp in grade school, and has been playing ever since. She received her B.A. in Music Performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has performed as a feature soloist with UNL's University Orchestra and as principal harpist in UNL's Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Symphonic band. In addition to her experience at UNL, Sarah has experience playing with Des Moines Youth Symphony Orchestra and Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. She has experience in various chamber music settings, master classes, and particularly enjoys playing for weddings, memorial services, and other life events where music can elevate connection.

Teaching is another of Sarah's passions, with experience in small and large groups in musical and lecture settings.  She previously served as visiting harp faculty at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, before relocating to Des Moines.

Sarah also holds a B.S. in Microbiology with a degree minor in Biochemistry. In addition to being a musician, she works as a healthcare technician in Des Moines, Iowa. Sarah finds immense value in helping others heal, whether it is with music or science, and enjoys balancing the duality of her two passions.
